Tune-Up

We recommend that if your PC is more than a couple of years old, you should consider our Tune-Up service. Apart from freeing up a lot of valuable disk space by removing non-essential system files, we can often locate and eradicate configuration problems that lead to unreliable or slow operation of your system. You'll be surprised at what a difference our Tune-Up can make to your system as its easy to forget what your PC was like when it was new as deterioration in performance is usually over a period of time and whilst you're maybe aware that your PC is slowing down, you put up with it for as long as you can! For a moderate cost, we can provide you with a trouble-free PC service.

Our tune-up service can include:

• Removal of so-called "temporary" files that actually are non-essential and rob your hard disk drive of valuable space
• Removal of hidden system files that are virtually impossible to remove by other means. It is increasingly common knowledge that some of the most popular operating systems keep an enormous volume of information about your PC, for instance the number of times you've used an certain application, copies of the content of Web Sites you've visited etc. Our tune-up service can remove these unnecessary "stealth" files thereby cleansing your PC and restoring substantial storage space.
• Optimisation of your hard drive directory structure for faster reads and writes.
• Removal of orphan files.
• Removal of old or damaged applications.
• Optional removal of non-complying software licence products and evidence of previous use.
• Optimisation of your memory management system.
• Optimisation of your boot up sequence for faster starts.
• Tidying up of your Desktop and directory/folder structures so that you can find or recover "lost" files more easily.

Our upgrade and small repairs service:

• For smaller problems we will aim if at all possible to resolve them on-site but may prefer to take the "base unit" away for a more thorough check if at all possible. This can be turned round quite rapidly and depending upon the nature of the problem might even be a quick "overnight" fix.
• Hardware issues usually require the base unit to be on our premises.

What are our fees?

Like all www.barley-house.co.uk. services, we're really competitive. Depending upon the problem, the number of hours of work required will determine the cost.

• We have no call-out charge for collection or delivery of your PC if it is within a 5-mile radius of Frampton Cotterell (BS36).

• Outside the area and up to a maximum radius of about 20 miles we charge a callout fee of £15 to include collection and delivery or call-out to your premises for on-site work. Callouts over 20 miles will be subject to a callout charge of £1 for every mile of the total journey from our base to your premises, per outbound journey.

• Our normal charge is £10 per hour for general problems but may increase to £15 per hour if specialist work is required. Upon examination of your PC, we should be able to give you a no-obligation approximation of the cost prior to rectifying the fault.

• Our general "tune-up" service costs £30 for a PC in usable working order which usually significantly increases disk space and can also result in a faster response thereby maximising productivity and reliability.

Our Tune-Up and cleansing system will usually remove system "stealth" files without the contents being visible to the technician. In addition, software licensing and ownership issues as well as the contents of a customer's PC are not our business and our code will remain in force on these matters.
